Rikshawthon 2017
The RikshawThon is a unique awareness event by Rising India supporting the Government of India’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. A specially designed rickshaw travels across districts, public spaces, schools, and colleges to promote the importance of saving and educating girls.
By visually engaging communities and reaching educational institutions, the RikshawThon raises awareness about the declining child sex ratio and encourages equal opportunities for girls, inspiring people to support girls’ rights, education, and empowerment.
The Rikshawthon campaign was inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadnavis and Mrs. Pankaja Munde, Minister for Women & Child Development, Maharashtra in 2018, at the International Conference on Women Trafficking organized by Maharashtra State Women Commission (MSCW) & International Justice Mission. The launch event was graced by dignitaries across 30 countries and several IAS and IPS officers. The campaign covered various colleges, public spaces across Mumbai, Pune, Sangali & Kolhapur districts.
Through this initiative, Rising India contributes to creating a society that values and invests in the well-being and future of girls.
